I have the data book and am planning to get the guide book for the CT. Is the mapbook necessary? The less I have to carry and the cost are factors in the decision. From my understanding, the trail is fairly well marked too. I’d think the guide book suffices to describe terrain landmark to keep abreast of in case you come to a fork in trail and such.
