Dog sitter - Appalachian Trail

I posted a message about this earlier, but wanted to repost again in case there are other people interested. We want to do a 2009 AT thruhike (late May thru mid Oct) and are looking for people who might be interested in living rent free for 5 months in exchange for watching our two dogs and one cat. We would like to get a list of possible dog/house sitters together early so we won’t have trouble come April next year. We could then return the favor for you if you need a house/pet sitter some time in the future.

We live in northern WI (lake country) and have a newer 2 bedroom, 2 bath home in the woods on 10 acres. There is a 28 mile paved bike trail at the end of our driveway and lots of great hiking and boating places around.

Our dogs are big, but very sweet. You can see pics of our pups on our Ice Age Trail journal from last year. www.trailjournals.com/small

Anyone interested?

We could watch your house and pets from June 20, 2009 to the end of your trip. We need to stay in So Cal until our son graduates from High School.

My husband and I are starting our empty nest life and plan to thru-hike the AT in 2010. We are selling our home and business and beginning the next portion of our life journey.

My husband is a horseshoer, 52-years young.

I am 47 and a graphic designer (mostly books). I want to trade-in my desk jockey lifestyle for a new level of activity.

Together we own a book printing and binding company that caters to college professors and corporate trainers.

In 2009 we plan to hit the road for additional trail-ready training and to evaluate where we want to purchase rural property for the semi-retirement we are looking forward to.

I was an Agricultural Business Management major in college, and never wanted to live in Los Angeles on a long-term basis. But, here I am. I’m eager to put the LA Metro are in my rear view mirror.

We have a cocker spaniel named Buddy that is our companion. He is friendly, well trained, and gets along with other dogs and cats. Buddy could possibly stay with our son, but we would prefer to include him in our plans.

If we might meet your needs, please feel free to e-mail me for more information.

Sincerely,
Teresa Trujillo
