Don't be scared, just wary

It’s now turkey hunting season in georgia and north carolina along the AT, so any hikers unexpeirenced with hunters, guns and gunshots, don’t freak out if you see or hear hunters in the woods near the trail. lots of the trail in these two states is in prime hunting areas. I myself am planning a weekend hunt south of damascus soon. The myth of the “deliverance” hillbilly is really just myth, unless you go somewhere you know you shouldn’t be going anyway (private property that looks unfriendly). if you run into a hunter (when he’s not hunting!) he’ll probably stop and speak…we are all nature lovers, and many hunters (like myself) love the camping, walking and comaradery as much as the act of hunting…I myself love the trail and the people on it…

Freak out?!, Been shot at, not fun-missed my head by a few feet. I learned the meaning of eating dirt first hand during the duck and cover move.

  1. People with packs on are NOT deer.
  2. People with packs on are not tin cans.
  3. See one and two.
Oh, people in canoes are not beer cans or deer either…buckshot on aluminum makes a funny sound. That round missed by inches. Remember that as the dorkenhiemer allows his 12 year old to play with the scatter gun. Wife was not amused.

People with guns are like people with cars; watch out for them because they ain’t watchin’ out out for you.

Almost forgot! Back in '03 four of us did the Maryland Challenge and at mile 40 something, down the hill onto the tow path we ge the hail of shotgun pellets on high raining down thru the dog woods. Nice. We yelled back, “you missed!”. More drunken laughter.

Maybe I’m a bullet magnet, while hiking and doing outdoor things, but three times is too many so I think I’ll steer clear of folks without gun skills.

If you see Dick Cheney out there…well, we all know where this one is going, I figured someone had to say it…:lol

Good call Kineo Kid, will have to use that one against the extreme leftist and blind Democrats that inhabit the undergrad side of the campus. :lol

PS At least ol’man Dick admitted to what really happened and called the police and allowed an investigation, vs. Ted and family trying to cover it up and pulling legal strings to have the incident buried.

Nonsense. When the sheriff went to the ranch where Cheney was staying on the evening of the shooting to investigate, they were turned away by Secret Service. Law enforcement turned away! How’s that for pulling the strings of power and burying the incident.

Barney

Barney is right. Also there were several reports that there had been several Women at the Ranch who were wisked away before reporters could see them.Thats one reason for the delay in the “investigation”.

Here we go, and I’m not even a republican (or dem, or commie, or liberterian, or greens, etc)
Ol’man Dick eventually admitted to it, within 24 hours or so, Ted never has and continues to avoid the subject.

It is well within the jusidiction for the secret service to turn away anybody, including other Federal agencies, at least for a short while. THose minor annoyances like security, verification of credentials and orders, etc.

Umm…yeah…Dick is what, late 60’s, bad heart, etc…I am sure there were 100’s, no 1000’s of naked ladies about, and two UFO’s, and a purple dinosaur, oh wait, thet was Barney…Sensationalism in the media, be it slander or simply to up ratings, is a mainstay in America…I did not see or hear a ‘credible’ newsource, in as much as they quasi exist anymore, report this tidbit…Only the Kennedy’s and associated Democrats (cough, Clinton) are normally tied to sex links, Republicans are too stoggy and boring for that. :lol

funny, it actually was franklin d. roosevelt who supposedly died in the saddle with a women not his wife (who could blame him though!) at those hot springs down in georgia in 1945. TALK ABOUT A COVERUP…

btw, historical note…my dad and grandad were at the gsmnp dedication when fdr dedicated/opened the park…
