Don't moon the cog!

Hikers mooning the cog railroad as it passes by the AT on Mt Washington is as old as, well the cog railway. Apparently, the owners of the cog have had enough of this silly, but harmless behaivor, claiming it offends old ladies and fightens small childern. After all, they didn’t pay $50.00 to see some smelly hikers butt!

Therefore, to put an end to this unseemly behaivor, the cog has enlisted the help of the NH State police, who now ride the cog in the hope of catching these offensive hikers in the act. So far, three unlucky hikers have been chased down, arrested and fined for indecent exposure in a public place. I kid you not!

Good for the Cog owners! They should also issue the cog operators paintball guns using pepper balls to shoot at nasty thru-hikers. They could also rent paintball guns to customers and let them shoot at nasty thru-hikers. Now that would be funny!:lol

Best,

Its good to see the NH State Police have nothing better to do with their time than looking for mooning backpackers. All must be well in NH.

I’d have mooned it if it hadn’t been so damn cold, that would have been a blue moon.

I hate that damned cog. They should expunge it from the peak, along with the auto road.

as of monday, five more thru-hikers, myself included, were added to that list. As we were on the trail, there was no knowledge of the police action against it. Out of the five of us, none of us had any idea or had previously read or heard anything from any hut croo, other hikers, or anywhere else. We were all ticketed and sent on our way. So long, AT traditions. Corporate interests and the “real guests” with white collars and big dollars obviously have won over the spirit of the trail.

I think they should organize a group Moon.

Say get like 200 hikers to meet right North of Mt Washington and have everyoen do a BraveHeart mooning…

That would be awesome.

now all the more reason to moon the cog railway.

I’ll bet if everyone who is fined goes and fights the fine in court, enforcement will stop. No one will want the courts tied up with this stuff.

I’m with Sierra88 - I’m thrilled that the police of our fine country take the time to catch someone’s exposed backside. They probably just came up with that to get out of patrolling and to ride the damn train! I think $50 is just about worth it…

I was hiking down from the summit on the Lion Head Trail last week and the damned Cog whistle blew. Even from that distance it was hellishly loud and was truly bothersome. It should be dismantled.
