Not that this question matters…just trying to slake my curiosity. Has anyone ever hiked a “double”? A round trip? A NOBO who turns right around and does a SOBO (or vice versa)? Would be interested in knowing.

Almost every year someone attempts to yoyo the AT. I’m not sure how many make it but several have. If I’d had the money (and better knees) I would have tried. One guy did it three or four times back and forth GA to ME to GA to ME. There have only been two successful yoyo hikes (they hiked together) on the PCT - that one took several attempts before it was successfully completed. We met a few who tried, but the snows came too soon.

It is one thing to hike the AT one way…but both? Back to back? Either the hiker(s) deserve a pat on the back or a CAT scan! Seriously though…if they have the $$$ and the time, God bless them. It is going to take some major shifting of my (and my family’s) life goals for me to make my NOBO in '06. I was just wondering if it had been done before.
