Down sweater or pile jacket

I am packing for the CT and was wondering if the plethora of afternoon thunderstorms made packing a down sweater for warmth a bad idea–I do have a rain jacket. I usually pack a lightweight pile jacket, but wanted to test out the down sweater because it is lighter. I also carry some super lightweight long underwear tops and bottoms that I sleep in.
Thanks

I used both my jacket and rain jacket on more than one occasion. It got pretty cool in the upper elevations as it rained. I sent my thermals home and slept in my jacket a few times. My 20 degree bag was perfect. I just finished 2 days ago so august may be warmer for you and hopefully dryer.

Are there more water sources this year along Indian Trail Ridge in Seg. 26?

Between Celebration Lake (AKA Mosquito Lake) and the first crossing of Straight Creek, there were a couple water sources. We filled up at the creek coming out of Mosquito Lake and again at Straight Creek. Segment 27 is the segment lacking water except for Taylor Lake and the ‘seasonal seeps’ which drain a draw filled with elk patties. SJ Ron

There was a flowing stream, about 2 inches deep, at mile 12.4 where there is also good camping spots and overlook. I filled up with my filter very easily and water was good. Rocks had to be rearranged to make area to put filter in, but otherwise that should work.
