We’re in the process of buying a digital camera and I’m wondering, of those of you who brought a digital camera with you on a long hike, i.e. the AT, etc, how/where did you download your photos along the trail? Or did you simply mail home the cards? Just trying to figure out how people do these things…

Best way is to swap out a second in the mail. Get two big meg cards. Remember you can always preview the pics on your camera so pretty much all should be keepers. Two should be good for a pound of batteries or 500 pics which ever comes first. You could also swap rechargeables or put a charger in your bounce box and an extra set of batts. My Olympus uses 4 AAs but last forever even with the flash.
