Listening to a report on NPR about the CA drought. They’re saying it’s just getting worse. How’s the trail? Anybody experiencing it firsthand and ca you compare it to other years?

Just returned from Lava Bed National Park & saw that the fire safety had risen from low to medium today. Going to be a dry season. There is no snow at PCT crossing Hwy 140, elevation 5200.

I’ve only seen the first 50 miles of the trail, but yes it’s worse than anything in the past 15 years. As an example, the creeklet at mile 5 that’s ALWAYS been running during hiker season, this year is sort of a fetid puddle. Pray for rain.

Got out a little late, started at Lake Morena and finally stopped at mile 117. Not a drop of water anywhere. Wasn’t too hot but it was really dry.
