I know they consider October 15 the day that Katahdin closes and that they close the trail earlier if bad weather hits.
Anyone know the earliest Katahdin has closed?

The overnight camping season, for the Birches and Katahdin Stream Campground, ends on Oct. 22nd. Day hiking up Katahdin continues until November 1st, when winter season rules commence. In recent years, the mountain remained open during the extended camping season.
Trails up the mountain can, and do, close at anytime due to weather. Several years back a blizzard closed the mountain the first week of October. It reopened a week later. In 2016, trails up didn’t close until Oct. 27th.
