Obviously your dreamin because there is no first wave right now. Even though a few brave soles venture north early they are usually stopped in their tracks here and there because of weather. Last year March was brutal sending many north bounders home early.
The first wave usually starts early mid March with most sensible hikers starting late March to early April. In 2009, I started April 8th. If I did it again I would likely start late March.

Was up at Neels Gap two weeks ago. They said only one nobo has got that far. On the way up Blood mtn we met one more camping about half mile from the gap. It was a young fit guy said it took him 5 day to get there cause of cold temps
