Extensive AT Collection

My wife and I are readers, so we collect alot of books.
She collects books on Backpacking/The Appalachian Trail/Thru-Hiking/Documentary films etc. We have them all which is quite a collection. I find it ironic that the #1 best selling book about a Thru-Hike was a Walk In The Woods and He didnt complete 1/3 of the entire trail and in sections. Anyway I know that its probably best if you are planning a Thru-hike on the AT then you probably shouldnt read everything out there on the subject for it might change your experience while hiking it. Well for us it is to late.
We were forced to emulse ourselves with books and films till we have our chance at the real thing.
If you ask Mama Kin whats her favorite she would say Ed Garveys books. Just a thought.

I vote for Blind Courage also. My second would be Ray Jardine’s, Beyond Backpacking.

Howdy, many books have yet to be written. Hikers talk about food quite abit,if it is not already in some state of spoken intent, like in thought. Why don’t some thruhikers get together and write a book on Buffets either on or within a 30mi or so radius of the AT. Having multiple folks contribute would help include a broader range of distance as well as perspective. BTW,the best buffet after climbing Katahdin is Miller’s buffet in Bangor near the Convention Center-at lunch every type of seafood imaginable, meats.salad materials for vegetarians as well, and a large room of dessert items. It is within stumbling distance to a number of cheap motels. Have a great hike, Mike
