How are fall leaf colors doing along the Tenn/NC section of the trail this year? Accuweather says the early cold front that is on its way will blunt the leaves and make them bite the dirt early. I’m thinking of doing a section in a week or 10 daze.

i was up on the nc mountains to sea trail early this week between linville gorge and mt. mitchell. there were leaves on the ground and leaves starting to change, but there was still a lot of green and no where near peak.

There will be color in the GSMNP starting the weekend of 10/20 and the leaves will be mostly on the ground by the 2nd week of December.
Horn Head
We are doing a 3 day hike in the Smokeys the week of the 23rd. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Can’t wait to go.
