Fall SOBO recommendation

Never set foot on the AT though I've hiked the southernmost portion of the PCT.

Can anyone recommend the IDEAL 350-mile section of the AT for fall SOBO hiking? I don’t care whether it’s in Maine or Georgia and don’t care whether I’m the only one on the trail.

I live in Alaska and want to stretch my legs before winter arrives. I’ve known my fair share of cold weather (from 0 to -60F) so, to be honest, I seek comfortable (balmy) temperatures.

Grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm and am simply looking for pleasant fall or late-fall weather.

Thank you kindly folks.

White mountains are of course the most spectacular... find out if the huts are in operation, as they can be indispensible in a storm & may offer a free stay for a chore. If you are heading south from Maine, you will be in lower elevations by the time you reach Vermont, Mass, & Conn... I worked at a S. Amenia pumpkin/squash etc... farm (near Kent, CT) in October '89 with some other hikers & Jamaicans: it was quite fun (min.wage). There is a new trail (netrail.org) that starts in Quebec for a short bit, takes the unfinished Coho trail down the length of NH, then across Mass & splits in 2 across Conn along the Mattabessett, Monadnock trails etc... or else down thru Rhode Island to the ocean ! Most of the maps are available on website to print for free: so please make a donation if you do !
