What was your favorite recipe on the AT?

My favorite was stuffing, gravy and chicken. I prepared 1/2 package of chicken or turkey gravy mix using a little extra water and boiled it for a couple of minutes, stirred in a 3 ounce foil pack of chicken, then stirred in preseasoned stuffing mix and let it stand for a few minutes. YUMMMM!

I make a ramen dish which consists of a package of ramen, two large spoons of peanut butter, a handful of sunflower kernels, and a pinch of Cayenne pepper. I have yet to get tried of eatting this meal. It has a lot of calories.
I also recommend little debbie, all products.

For your “Home Angle” to send: Slice 1 pound of peeled sweet potatoes paper thin. Pour over 2 T good olive oil. Use both hands to turn and stir the slices until most are coated. Refrigerate overnight. Next afternoon, lay the slices on parchment lined cookie sheets (probably 2) salt lightly or heavily - your call. Bake in a 245° oven for two hours, turn off oven and open it the next morning. You may add any other spices you choose like cayenne, but this is good as is!

Cook a packet of ramen and a can of chicken together. Drain completely and add 3-4 packets of mayo and cheese. It tastes just like a chicken sandwich.
Turkey/Bacon subway subs work real well too.

Equal amounts of black beans (Fantastic Foods, dehydrated) and quick brown rice. For 2 of us I bagged 1 cup of each. In camp I boiled 2 cups of water, added rice and simmered for 5 min. Then I added the beans and “rested” for 5 more min. This is good in tortillas or in a bowl. Add seasonings like a packet of Taco Bell salsa or dehydrated corn salsa. YUM!

go through a hiker box, any hiker box. take out anything not labeled, put in a pot with as much water as you think it needs. boil and steer untill it looks ready. if you’re a real thru-hiker, you’ll eat it.
