After reading through a few journals, I’ve been struck by the number of people who refer to the mid-atlantic & so. New England states as boring, unscenic, and too easy. So is this the “worst” part of the trail? What is everyone favorite section/AT state? Least favorite section/AT state?

I enjoyed all of the trail some states better than others. I liked the views and remoteness in GA/TN/NC/VA and VT/NH/ME. My least favorites were PA/NY/NJ/CT/MA. The long stretchs of the trail had a great appeal to me. So when we were making so many road crossings in Penn thru Mass it was not as much fun for me. I wouldn’t skip any of the trail. It is a great adventure. Happy trails.
