Feedback - High Sierra Camps

I am considering going to some Yosemite High Sierra Camps.

If you have stayed at the High Sierra Camps in Yosemite, could you please share some thoughts of your experience there?

Would you do it again?

Would you go to more camps?.. or fewer camps?

Was the food decent? or was the food fit for a King (you bent over, snapping your fingers, whistling for the dog…saying “here King, here King”)?

Thanks - the Sheb

I stayed at Glen Aulin (in a tent cabin) in 2006. it was fantastic and the food was very, very good - also the packed lunches they do for the next day if you want. As you probably know, you can book for just the meals and stay in the backpacker site too. I also backpacked to Sunrise and camped there. The atmosphere of each camp is totally different, partly depending on the staff of each one. The meals are served “family style.” Some nights there is a ranger and a campfire, if you like that stuff (I’m rather antisocial in that respect). Not all camps have showers (Glen Aulin doesn’t). They all have bear boxes, including for packers. Also potable water (but chloriny - I prefer to filter). Wood stoves in the tent cabins. Tent cabins have mattresses on the bed frames, and blankets, but I’d recommend taking your own bag and using their blankets for under the bag for insulation. Hope this helps - I’m going round all the camps in August.
