I’ll be shooting film on my hike. Does anyone know of or use a good-quality, dependable mail processing service? I would like to get prints and a photo CD from my color print film. ~~thanks.

I highly recommend Mystic Color Lab at http://www.mysticcolorlab.com/ I have used them for many years and have been fully satisfied with their service. I personally would take a digital camera wit a GIG card and skip the film…

Thank you, Ed!

I just checked out the mystic site and it looks interesting. Is their picture viewing/management software proprietary? I mean, can I use it to view all my other CDs, such as the Kodak photo CDs?? Is it Mac friendly?

I’m pretty picky about my pics.

PICKY. Know what I mean?

I’m aware of the digital “advantages,” but IMHO those advantages have yet to outweigh the depth of field on my little manual cameras with their glass lenses. (Also, I STILL haven’t found a way to stick a picture CD in my enlarger easel.) Plus, I’m not really prepared to spend several thousand dollars on SLR digital equipage, multiple flash cards, batteries, charger, etc., and even if I could do that, I wouldn’t consider carrying that weight in bodies and glass on the AT. I’m using lightweight 35mm rangefinder cameras on my hike and my budget for more equipment is busted. I really just need a good, dependable lab to soup my negs and deliver them to me, along with a set of prints and a CD. It’s hard to find authentic high quality in the mass marketplace, unless it’s by happy accident.~~thanks.

Mystic digitals are universal and Mac Friendly. I owned a Mac for years and only switched to a PC because my two sons ould not learn the Mac System. I needed their help to maintain my web site.

I owned a Nikon SLR and 12 Nikkor lenses from 15MM to 500 MM. As I aged, I graduated to a point and shoot Nikon 35 mm with a 35 to 105mm Zoom Lens for simplicity. Once I went digital, I gave all of the Nikon Stuff to my sons and daughter. I now have two digitals A 5MP Konica and a 2.1 MP Olympus with a 10 X Optical lens 35MM to 350mm. The konica is very small and light and takes great pictures. I carry it when I Hike. Check out my web site shown www.mtleconte.com: cheers :cheers

Ed,

Does that company do slides (e-6 processing)?

Tha Wookie, I do not know. After many regrets when trying other processors than Kodak, I quit trying others for slides. Too many scratches. Had good luck with Fuji at the end of my film days. Now all digital. Check out Mystic Color’s web site. I am sure that you can find your answer there. http://www.mysticcolorlab.com/

There’s a place on the order form that indicates slides. It says any type besides Kodachrome. $6.95 for a 36 roll.
