Hey guys, I remember someone saying something before about a website that helps people find hiking partners?
If anybody knows about this or knows another way to locate a partner for a thru-hike I’d appreciate the advice.
Thanks, Jeff.

Sorry, I can’t help with your question but I thought I may point out a few things. First off, unless you already have a hiking partner that you have hiked with for a long time and know that you and their hiking styles are very similar, the odds are VERY slim that you will be able to meet someone and the two of you will end up hiking the same speed for the entire hike. I personally like hiking solo because I am free to take a break whenever I feel like it or do a death march without having to worry about keeping up with or getting ahead of a partner. Even going solo, you won’t be alone on the trail. You will find a group of people that are hiking the same speed as you and will stay with that group for a bit. Eventually, a few of the slower hikers will get left behind and the slightly faster hikers will move on and you will find yourself with some new hiking friends for a bit. You will catch up with some of the faster hikers that take a day off in a town and the slower hikers will catch up to you when you take a zero day. Thats what makes the trail so special. You meet so many wonderful people that share the same passion for the outdoors as you. The trail is a hiking community that you find yourself submerged in and it’s a wonderful thing to be a part of :cheers
PS good luck finding a partner, NOOGA.

To be honest, the best place to find a hiking partner for the trail is on the trail. Even if you don’t stick with that person every day, you will likely run into them time and again.
The trail’s cool that way…you can be alone if you want to be, or hike with people every day if that is your choice.

Jeff, Don’t spend the time and energy looking for a partner before you start.
Just start hiking and you will fall in with folks who hike at the same speed as you hike. You will than get to know people in this group and than,if you still want to, can find a partner from these people.
