Finishing PCT '07

Hey all, just wondering if any of last year’s PCTers who got snowed out are making plans to finish this season. I haven’t set anything yet, but hope to be back on the trail in August or September, and it would be cool to run into some old friends from last year. Any thoughts?

Hey Gesh! I think I’m going to just start over from the beginning, possibly in 2009. Guino and I tried calling you at the bottom of chair 7 the other day, after reading the article we found about you online. Liftie camp rules.

Hows life on Brokeback Mtn? It looks like you guys are getting the dumpage this year too. It just puked on Mammoth here too. I made tracks already on Pct this year. My and Hydro’s official start was Feb 10 we covered the stretch from the Tehachapi Willow Springs rd. North to the trail register and picnic table a 1/4 mile in, signed the register and left a gallon of water under the picnic table. There was snow on the PCT we had to walk through to accomplish this. Crazy, snow in Mojave. I axe anynone? Actually I still am a PCT 07 hiker, I’m just taking a string of zero days with a little flip floppage. I am still in a trail town fresh off PCT. Like I look at the PCT every single day pratically. Well imagine if you saw PCT every time you rode, Gesh. I am confused as to wether to do PCT this summer, or work for the Forest Service with Hydro in Bridgeport. The boss said I might be able to be a Wilderness Ranger meaning I would clear trails with a Cross- Cut saw and axe, no chainsaws in these woulds. Though I already sent my permit complete with the 5 buck donation, and canada entrance papers. I like the box on the Ca INS that says appearence. I wanted to right disheveled or Manson-like, Potential 178 or something. So you might see me out there pretty much going all the way. I didnt work days this winter to hardly ski not to take the summer off. If I wasn’t hiking I would work nights for cheap and ski all day. Ski you on the trail. Guino:smokin

Umm… I might be persuaded to go if Guino will share his M and M’s with me. Wow, are we really the only one’s thinking of finishing up this year? Gesh and I might be REALLY lonely out there…

…Gesh and Junkfood are required to post journal entries for their final hike to Canada this summer.

Hope to see you out there in September, if i make it that far from Mexico!

Hey guys-
There’s more of us. I only missed the last 30 miles, but I know Breeze is thinking about Skykomish to the end. Also, there’s a bunch of us hitting the Glacier Peak area (again, for fun!). I might try and do the Pasayten Wilderness, but it’ll depend on vacation time.

Cloudspotter,
I would definitely say hike thru Pasayten. The remoteness makes it one of my favorite places. I hiked 6 days through the Pasayten durring my PCT/PNT hiking in '07 and didn’t see a single person… I did see some bears. And there’s a dome or two in there (kinda like yosemite’s domes) off the PCT though. It’s a beautiful place. Hiking in Washington durring GOOD weather is my favorite hiking experience.

In 2006. I skipped from rainy pass to hart pass. Finished october 29th. And, in 2007, miss from rainy pass to the border, I took the alternate route, finished october 9th. So next summer, probably not in october, I’ll be there… I have some walk to do.

I would agree with Banjo Boy about the Pasayten Wilderness - its also my favorite hiking area in good weather - but notice the qaulifier: Good weather

Happy Trails!
