My wife and I finished section A last week. One night in the San Felipes we were hiking with Chowder and nabor Jay. Across the valley over by Rodriguez we saw a big fire, but it went out in a matter of 3-5 minutes. A couple days later we heard about some people hiking down and finding a bunch of burnt gear (therma-rest, tent, etc). We spoke to jean luc (sp?) and he found some of the gear and said the guy had an alcohol stove? I am curious if the fire we saw was related and if the the hiker is okay. Has anyone heard about this?
