Fire permits, like bear canasters is another item some do some don’t get one or feel they need one. Does anyone know can they be gotten anywhere in any state that could be used for the whole PCT. If you get one here in Ca i had the same one for Wa/Or so i guess you could get one in Ma or NH or KAS. that would be useable on the PCT

After the fires started by campers in the Sierras last summer, some National Forests around Tahoe revoked all fire permits and didn’t allow any flame … not even stoves. When I questioned rangers in a neighboring juristiction about it, they hadn’t even heard of it. So my suggestion is to check with each area separately.

Well this subject seems to be a dead end on this site but on pctl it has lite up like a smoking cinder. There seems to be vast differences regarding the need for a fire permit for OUR homemake stoves as well as the over the counter ones. With the massive rain and snow out here in So Cal it might not be a problem anyway this year…
