Hiker accidentally shoots himself in the rear

(08-31) 16:35 PDT Wenatchee, Wash. (AP) –

A hiker on Blewett Pass shot himself in the butt when he put a handgun in his back pocket. The Chelan County sheriff’s office said the 52-year-old Snohomish man had moved his .40-caliber handgun from its holster to his back pocket Saturday to see if that position would be more comfortable.

The Wenatchee World reported the gun fired the bullet down his left buttock and left leg, coming to rest just above the knee. He was treated at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

They say that the most painful wound is self inflicted. I take back all my criticisms of those who want to carry firearms while hiking - we need the comic relief on the trail.:lol

sorry,I don’t have any sympathy for this idiot. What’s he doing with a gun on the trail? There are enough gun nuts out there, but we don’t need them on the trail.

I’ve been asked many times if i carried a gun on my thru, my response is always the same. 'What would I shoot at?" Is fear stupidity or ignorance?

Well what if a black bear approached you, and pepper spray didn’t work?
