I will be hiking the AT for the first time in April/March of next year and doing it in sections due to work. I want to start in the Smoky Mountains. Any tips would be great.

I called the Backcountry office in the smokies yesterday & probably bout March they will start charging $3.00 per nite to stay in the shelters&campsites. So make sure you make your resversations 30days in advance....
