I am looking to hike about 200 miles Northbound from Springer mountain. I have a collapsable fishing pole and was wondering if it would be worth bringing. I would gladly take any advice.

It may seem tempting to carry a pole and tackle but in reality there won’t be tons of opportunities. Think of it this way; you are going to be up in the moutains were creeks and rivers originate but generally not where the end up. You’ll of course have some opportunites as you come down to gaps etc but for most of the hike you won’t have much of an opportunity. It’s probably not worth carrying the extra weight.
Fishing
really no time to fish anyway is what I thought. A fishing trip to me means a cooler, the dog, ample time, and cleaning and cooking my catch. The AT was about travel and pausing to fill water bottles, but bet they bite in the Nolichucky!

you can fish if you have liscense but watch out for ranger
rick. he will give you a ticket if you have none. and don’t be caught fishing with live bait. big fine!
