I have read on the colorado trail website that fishing regulations vary from segment to segment. Was wondering if anyone has ever fished in Eldorado Lake or Kite Lake? And if so, how is the fishing - is it worth carrying some lightweight gear on the trip? Thanks in advance for any help.

No one went so I’ll bite. Pretty much all the ponds and lakes are stocked and have all kinds of fish. Mostly trout speci. The last time I went up on the CDT back in '95 you couldn’t not catch something. Most we’re 8" rainbows. I took a fly rod to avoid any lure issues. Dry fly, wet fly, no fly, hook and grasshopper. They bit on every cast.
No, haven’t fish the two lakes you mentioned, sorry. But if I were going to the CT my dad would kick my *** if I didn’t take rig. Bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, yo.
