Fleece jacket suggestion from SpiritWalker

SpiritWalker,
In an earlier post about gear you suggested newer fabric for substitutions for fleece jackets. I’ve been looking around for a replacement for my Lands End POLARTEC 200. I tried on a down Western Mountaineering Flight jacket today (I saw several hikers carrying them at the PCT kick-off)

I tried to locate the earlier post. Can you please give me the url again for a light outer layer?

TIA

Not sure where the post is but I can offer this much, every company makes a light weight insulating layer these days in both down and synthetic. I carried the Moonstone Cirrus jacket on my AT hike. It is a synthetic, if you are worried about the wet down thing, especially for something you will be wearing while roaming around to cook, go get water, go to the privy, etc.
There is also the patagonia micro puff and the puffball.
Many options out there now.

Get a sewing machine and then make your gear. It’s fun and costs less. Check out www.thru-hiker.com for a few kits.

Hey man, I bought mine for 2 bucks at a
thrift shop in my hometown. Thing
worked like a champ, I think, fleece is
as fleece does. But I’m not a big clothing
freak either.
