I moved to Florabama and am going through some backpacking withdrawls. Does anyone know of any good trails in this area or a days drive?

Check out the Florida Trail site there is some good hiking on the FT the Ocala National is nice

German Tourist was just on the FT & went thru hell during the coldest winter in history?! Some of it was submerged; some of it was endless roadwalks around Lake Okeechobee & Orlando where lots of trail angels were, but drinking water was not; some of it went thru military bases during live firing exercises; some of it went thru controlled burns that were not a drill & almost made a crispy critter of GT. With all that, I wish like hell the economy had been better so I could be there too!
Also don’t miss the Suwannee river canoe trail & swamp canoe trails thru the E.Glades where you better find the camping platform or sleep in ur boat! (GT & friend also canoed the coastal trail during the freezingest times & got swamped once). Happy gator & snake friending! GBM

A good guidebook source is alibris.com where you can get books for $3; the trick is to find a book u want, then search the shipper for what other books they have for cheap… if you get 4 or 5 books from same shipper, is much cheaper for shipping charges…get on alibris email;they often offer 10% off if you buy $30, 60, or $100 of books total. I saw florida guidebooks there for sure.

Several people have told me the best hiking in Fla is in Torreya State Park near Tallahassee. I haven’t hiked it yet.
