Forest Service Roads

Hi. My brother will drop me off on the service road a mile past the start at Springer Mountain in a little over a week. Does anyone have any current info on the conditions of those roads? I think he drives on FS 42.

Thanks for any help.

I have driven that road a couple of times and generally it is in fair shape although having some clearance is a good idea. If it snows I do not believe they plow it and wait until it melts. Either way leave the Ferrari at home.

My brother just tried tro get there and he now has this question:

Which approach using FS RD. 42 is best? The East from Nimblewill Gap Rd. Dahlonega or West from Swan, Doublehead Gap Rd.?
Thanks
