Up to 500 free boxes, it might be a little late, but they look great for maildrops and I’m sure some other stuff.

That is a great new service - Flat rate of $7.70 anywhere, any weight?! I could have used that last year, lol!
The Postal system has several freebies for use in Priority mailings – they charge for supplies for the “cheaper” rates – so it would seems the way to go.
Wild Hare
Last year I used only USPS Priority mail boxes and envelopes for my mail drops on the PCT. SEVERAL postal employees comented on the ease of handling shipments that come in these packages. I got two sizes of boxes, two different paper envelopes, labels, tape, and Tyvek envelopes all for free and they prefer to use them! Order about two weeks before you need them. Ordering can be done online or by mail order form available from the P.O. You pick them up at the nearest post office. Ask the counter employees if they want you to order any extra for the front lobby. I was told to bring ALL unused products back because they aren’t allowed to order for themselves.

That ought to save me some money. If I meet you on the trail I’ll be sure to thank ya. I think your trail name should be “Nameless”.

The priority mail boxes are great to use - just make sure if you have one of those “priority mail” boxes, you plan on using it for priority mail. Post Office is not supposed to let you use any box that says anything about priority mail if you want to use the cheaper “bulk rate” mailing. (Does what I said make sense?).
Yes, the PO folks definitely seem to be pushing the use of Priority Mail - which is indeed a good thing for $7.70 in one of their two approved boxes. But you gotta fit things in those two, approved boxes.
