I think I read on here that normal soda bottles will work to carry denatured fuel, right?

For a period of time…polyethylene plastic being the prefered. You could get pint of denatured at the paint center and reuse the bottle for you trip. Where you refuel they’ll have it by the ounce or fill.

Yep. There have been a couple of threads on it. I used a .5L water bottle for my first try with one last weekend (de-labelled and marked “do not drink”). The bottle works fine. I used up half a bottle of fuel on an overnight trip trying to get the stove to work right, though. I still need to work the bugs out of it.

Be sure to label any container that does not have it’s original liquid in there. Ask hammockhanger about her episode with alchohol and cooking. She was adding what she thought was water to her pot when in reality it was fuel. Also, an unlabeled bottle sitting around a shelter is fair game for someone to take a swig. Could be bad news out in the middle of nowhere.

lol, stick yer lighter inside the little pepsi can stove, denatured is not such a high flash igniter. Or try using a leaf. dip it in the alcohol and then lite the leaf, then stick it inside the stove… hope that helps
