how easy or how hard is it to get fuel along the p.c.t.

I’ve read that the easiest fuel to get continually along the pct is alcohol for can stoves. You can buy it in towns and convenient stores sold as “heat” for cars.

Check out Austin Williams’ site, planyourhike. I believe that he has a comprehensive list of fuel availability along the trail.

I had no trouble finding the yellow bottle HEET or denatured alcohol on the PCT for my alcohol stove; in fact, I found it in places that I had been warned that I might not. However, fuel for canister stoves is a harder to come by and needs careful planning. Esbit tabs were pretty rare.
