Why does everone make such a big deal about carrying out your garbage? I hiked last year and just left it in the firepit or hanging from a mouse hanger. The ATC hires ridgerunners and most of the other local appalachian trail clubs have volunteers and it is really no big deal for them to carry out a little bit of trash - far easier then me carrying it 3 or 4 days to the next town and stinking up my pack and possibly attracting bears.

So your living room is a crap hole and your mom still cleans up after you? You must have been that boyscout who’s McDonalds salt packages I picked up between the Inn at Long Trail and the half way split to the Whites. All 112 of them…and that used adult diaper in the Smkys shoved in a log…oh and the #$@* stained kids diaper some one put under a rock ABOVE the spring between Laural Creek and Damascus. Thanks…oh ridgerunners volunteer although they get paid a few bucks, not to be your lot boy and i’ll ask Rockdancer to carry less than his normal load of first aid supplies so he can carry of your 24 of empty 40’s. Check you sleeping quarters before you hit the hay 'cause several thousands hikers are going to deposit whatever in it because don’t have to carry it out.

APRIL FOOLS! HAH HAH! I didn’t realize anyone would take me seriously. Completely joking. Everyone should pack out their trash - all of it, not burn it or leave it. I even make a point of picking up after less considerate dirty pig hikers.
