Are Crampons and an ice axe a must and are there any good beer stops along the way ???

Too many dry counties in the South. Beer is hard to come by sometimes.

i only wished that i had an ice axe on one occasion. mather pass. you can buy liquor in most gas stations and grocery stores. thank goodness

It depends on what you mean about good beer options? Do you mean good beer? In my Washington beer snob opinion it’s hard to come by a great microbrew until you get to N. California and Washington/ Oregon. I actually lowered myself to canned beer in one of the smaller mid-Cali. towns (sshhhhhh this is something I have admited to few close friends) but just wait until you get to Oregon-- Olallie and north you have execellent options if the other hikers haven’t drank it all before you get there.
Crampons-- skip them.
Ice Axe- read some of the suggestions posted in one of the other forums, it really ends up depending on weather and your personal comfort level.
