General Q: about throgh hikers?

Just curious: how many through hikers are there this year and when will the “main concentration” be hitting the Trout Lake - White Pass area? Washington has taken a beating the past few years, this fall-winter especially. Anything we can do to help folks on this near to the end ( ok, 300 miles to go) section? Rides, info, help with resupply etc…

About 200 hikers have passed through Kennedy Meadows.

The pack should be passing through the Trout Lake area in late August/early September.

Rides to Trout Lake might be appreciated. Also there isn’t a lot of information yet about trail conditions in Washington. This information would be useful.

Wow. I had no idea there were/are that many. I met a few in mid September last year around White Pass , but conditions were beginning to deteriorate & I figured them for the tail end. Thanks for the info. The high trails are still snow bound & I sense that the trails themselves are relatively OK, but understand the approach roads have taken a beating. I hiked in to the PCT about 11 miles south of White Pass two weeks ago & was impressed by the blow downs on the approach trail (#1118 North Fork Tieton River). The biggest problems through Washington will probably be logistics, especially around Trout Lake. I hike this section quite a lot ( Walput Lake to White Pass anyway) & will keep you posted as the snow thaws. Could also run a shuttle for a week or so - we’ll see.
