Getting to N Terminus

I am looking for some advice on what the best way is to get to the Northern Terminus. I see that the bus routes can’t get you there. I would be able to get to Williamston, MA without too much difficulty and wouldn’t mind hitting the bus to the point where it branches up out of the way. Does anyone in the area do shuttles or are there any hostels that can pick you up and take you up to the Northern end? I’ve got the guides and they aren’t much help in this respect. I want to do a N -> S thruhike starting October 15th or thereabouts. Thanks!

Hey Jollies,
I just finished the LT aug 26th, i was supposed to use Rose apple acres for a ride out of there, but eneded up getting a ride from someone on the trail, but you should check w/ camilla, she is nice and may be able to help you out. the # is(802)988-4300 or www.roseappleacres.com

they are in the end to enders guide, there are others too, if you dont have the guide you should get one, its pretty helpfull in towns.

good luck on your hike, should be a beutiful time of yr. to do it, although bring a warm bag, i went in aug. and the temps were down into the mid 30s a couple nights.

Happy Trails.

The E2E guide does have a few options. If you are solo, listed shuttles are your best bet, unless someone offers. Montpelier and Burlington are probably the closest places by bus and St. Albans is the closest by train. Hitching looks hard near the trail head, because traffic is scarce, although you could get lucky and find someone willing to go out of their way.

The Rose Apple Acres people - North Troy, VT, 802 988 4300, do shuttle up to the the trailhead at Journey’s End Rd. As pedxing said, Burlington and Montpelier are the closest but stops, but still a good ways from North Troy and hitching could be a challenge. Not a lot of folks around there and not many places to go, so the traffic is sparse. Enjoy the trip and keep warm at night.
