There are now TWO possible detours around the washed out trail/bridges on the West side of Glacier Peak.
The US Forest Service has outlined a proposed detour route around the East side of Glacier Peak. This route leaves the PCT at Indian Pass (mile 2504.2). This is the trail marked “1502” at the top of map K5. You return to the PCT on the Buck Creek Pass Trail, which intersects the PCT at mile 2547.3. This is the trail marked “2052” on map K11. A brief text description and an overview map of this detour are on this website: [www.fs.fed.us/r6/wenatchee/pct/].
In addition, Jonathan Ley has created detailed printable maps for a similar (but not identical) detour route. Jonathan’s route leaves the PCT at Lower White Pass (mile 2505.9). This is the trail marked “1507” on map K6. You return to the PCT mile 2547.3, the same place as the US Forest Service detour. Details and maps for Jonathan’s detour are on this website: [www.phlumf.com/pct/pctalt.htm].
