Good 25 -30 mile stretch

I am feverishly trying to salvage my (every 2 year) “fella’s trip” and with weddings; babies, new jobs and cross-country moves we are perilously close to having it killed for the first time in better than a decade….could you help suggest a good 25-30 mile section of the LT for a group of 4.

I have lived in the PNW the past 10 years and have hiked extensively there; my previous experience in New England has always been in the White Mountains. I’d love a section of the LT that is has a good drop-off point, and an out that could have us escape to a bigger town to catch a bus back to Boston. Any help would be much appreciated.

About to end-to-end the LT starting late august. I’ve done the southern 100 or so on the AT thru and was quite mild and green, with many lakes and forest plateaus. I hear the top half more resembles the Whites for its crags, ledges, notches, and mountains. Perhaps a SOBO jaunt from Mansfield Mtn. to end out at a Burlington bar? As left-leaning a town gets on the Left Coast. Happy trails…

Your best bet would be US Route 4 to Brandon Gap. It is 20 miles. Or you could do Brandon Gap to US 4 and then spend a night at the “Inn at the Long Trail” for good Irish food and beer.

The trail on that section is relatively level.
