you’ll get your feet wet with low-top gortex. it’s not so much stepping in puddles that gets your feet soaked, but the rain running down your legs and into your shoes. basically, if it’s raining, even a little, you’ll be soaked no matter what you do.

The misconception about Goretex is far and wide. The secret about Goretex, and the reason why I BUY is, it is the number 1# Boot liner that will wick out unwanted moisture faster than any other.
For example if your feet does get soaked by a stream it will dry 10 x faster if you have Goretex. (my opinion)
But the main thing is it will keep your feet dry-er because it will continually wick out “sweat” and Sweat is a given in the hiking community
Ah, The power of a fabric YEAH BABY!
consider “Gators” Gators keep sticks and stones and rain (snow) out of the tops of your boots. I have calf high gators which look ridiculous but I like the snow and in the snow they are UNBEATABLE!
Can we have a Hell YEAH?
HELL YEAH!! BABY!

I’ll second that. I always wear Goretex loafers during New York winters and it keeps my feet dry even when I’m engaged in a high-stakes scam with suckers from Texas.
Ratso Rizzo
why are you scamming people from TX? After 9/11 I noticed that New Yorkers were human just like us. New Yorkers became sincere, and humble. As a truck driver I saw this transformation up close and it was refreshing. I guess you could be “Upstate Scum” but it is really sad that there is such animosity in your thread.
I am so Sorry for your family and anyone you come in contact with.

Why am I down on New Yorkers? Let me count the ways. When I few into LaGuardia, someone stole my luggage. I saw it loaded in Austin. When we touched down it was stolen.
I took a taxi from the terminal to my hotel. The driver had tampered with the meter and it ran to $65! He didn’t even try to play innocent. I got out the cab, and the air smelled like garbage.
Then I went out for a bite, and a scammer named Rizzo with GoreTex loafers suckered me out of $100 before I got the check. Yeah, I was a dupe but he was a real con artist. He told me his first name, which sounded suspiciously like Ratso. What a rat.
Fed up with New York hospitality after less than one day, I picked up this little waif who gave me an STD. When I got back to the hotel, my wallet was gone! When I went to find a cop to report it, someone knocked me over the head.
When I came to, sore and dizzy, I went back to my room and the door wouldn’t open. They wouldn’t let me back in because I couldn’t pay for another day because my VISA was stolen by that little slut who I went to for comfort after Ratso Rizzo conned me outta a hundred bucks after I got taken for a ride by a cabbie with a tampered meter after my luggage was stolen the moment I touched down in New York. Man, that place sucks.

You are obviously trying to stir trouble, And by using the North/South affliction to your means, could only mean that you have a weak character. And a “Real” southerner would not use a word like “waif” (unless you are some kinda poser)And if you were a Real NY Cool Bird, You sho would not be so uncouth to direct attention to your own stupidity. If you were “scammin” you would not use the word “scamming” it would be considered “Doin Business as usual” or cappin off another “special” deal.
So if you slidin around town in yer loafers, Thats Okay. Just watch out before you stub yer fat toe on an Inuendo.

You know…I’m from Tennessee, and I went to New York for a week last year. It was an awesome trip, and I met a lot of nice people. An elderly man passed out on the subway. I have a medical background, so I went to help him. And so did everyone else in the vicinity. Things happen for a reason. You don’t seem like the smartest individual, but I hope you made it home safe. A word of advice…do not judge a place/person based on your own ignorance.
