I’m going to be tied up in some quasi-PT working out… so I’m living vicariously thru you people and I’m starving to death. Tell me about your recent or planned hikes.

Ohhh… the JMT is nice and Pisgah Forest is beautiful. I’m hoping to be able to do the Foothills trail next spring.

Phreak, which part of Pisgah?

Not sure yet. I’m letting my friend pick what area we do in Pisgah. I’m in desperate need of some time in the woods. It’s been over 2 months for me, the longest without some trail time in several years.

I’m meeting up with some thru-hikers I was hiking with down south this spring at the DWG in a couple of weeks and doing NJ/NY/CT and maybe MA with them. Pretty mundan sections of trail and in mid summer heat. At least I got my pack base weight down to about 10 pounds and it all fits in a day pack with room to spare for food:D Hopefully I can still keep up with them after being off the trail and sitting on my butt for almost 2 months!

Wow - I’d love to hike in SA at some point. He-Dino is a bit worried about traveling the area due to the instability of some of the governments. I would appreciate you letting me know how it was when you get back.

Still planning to hike the Camino de Santiago come September. Working hard with my doctor to make it a pleasant event and not a pain endurance marathon. Either way I’ll be there.:girl

Dino has been doing her hiking in an indoor pool… at least it has a view of the mountains.

What is Grafton Notch Loop like? I haven’t hiked that.

Just got back from Ecuador (not hiking, a medical service trip) and would suggest that anyone hiking there stay away from Colombia and northern Ecuador…very unstable right now. Still PLENTY to see in central, southern and coastal Ecuador. Fantastic scenery/mountains, and the rain forest.

Just finished my annual section hike (this year a modest ~200 miles) in a flipping beautiful section of southern Virginia. I’m only sorry that it’s over :bawling
Maybe I’ll sneak out for some PA hiking in the early fall!
