OK, after reading pros and cons of which GPS to buy I am torn between DeLorme and Garmin. Need some feedback other than not to take one. PS: I am not a “technogeek”.

I used a delorme last year on the CDT.I cant remember what modle tho,and based on that experince I would look for a GPS that had a big lcd screen,is lite weight ,reseably priced, and the bigest for me would be the lock time to acure enough satalites. The delorme i used took any where from 1 minute to 15 to lock enough satalites.Any way thats what I would base my purchase on.Happy hiking

Just returned from finishing CDT…used DeLorme in Montana…got Garmin Colorado model and downloaded Out of Order’s tracks for the rest of the trail. No comparison-Garmin superior in every way…not cheap, but Colorado (get it with preloaded maps) is older model and may be cheap on Amazon…you won’t regret the purchase.

Thanks for the feedback. I have been considering the Colorado T but the price is way up there. You sometimes get just what you pay for. Congratulations on completion of the CDT although anticipation is a big part of it.

Got a really great deal on last years model Colorado T from Abes of Maine on line. Decision made.
