There is no listing for GCT so i’ve put this on the AZ trail as it is part of it. I am going down to the bottom of the canyon for my 7th time this March. I will be spending a night at Hermit Rapids on the river. My ? is has anyone reading this been there? I have spent many days on the hermit trail but not to the river there…

You would find a lot more Grand Canyon info at places like
www.kaibab.org or www.hitthetrail.com. I haven’t done Hermit’s but I have permits for Tanner/escalante/Red canyon
and Bright Angel CG/Cottonwood CG and Clear Creek CG for May. Can’t wait.

Not sure just what the route is BUT i know there are many rim to river trails and a 72 mile long Tonto trail connecting the Garnet canyon to red canyon then 45 miles over to Hermit Creek. then ita a good haul over to hance trail, i have done Her. to Hance. I just have never been west of hermit trail. or to its rapids…So tarbubble stop in the GC on your way to the PCT in 06…Meadow

i thought there was a “Grand Canyon Trail” that i had never heard of. i actually have big plans for the Tonto in spring 2007; still putting together a team. since the PCT is pretty much in my backyard i have to drive a few hours to get over to the GC, but i try to make it there every 6 months or so. been to the bottom 3 times myself, via Havasu Creek, N. Kaibab & S. Kaibab.

As far as taking the hermit all the way down to the river, i have heard (strictly hearsay) that the trail sustained flood damage and so is a bit of a boulder-hop down, but there are no big drops and the route-finding is easy. the BRO might know the current condition, their number is 928-638-7875. NPS site says there are some ammo boxes at the river camp.
