We did the Grandview west to the Bright Angel about 8 years ago. The Grandview trail is steep down to Horseshoe Mesa. It is usually very icy, but this year there has been almost no snow. When we were at the Canyon last week all the trails were ice free, even in the switchbacks that don’t get any sun. After you drop off the west edge of Horseshoe Mesa and start on the Tonto Trail it will be much the same as the Tonto from the Hance to Grandview. There is the long, long walk to get around Grapevine Canyon. It just seems long since you can see where you want to be the whole time.
This is a great time to be hiking in the Grand Canyon. Enjoy!

There was a large rock slide last season that took out a lot of the Grandview trail. Not sure if the trail was rebuilt or not. Phenominal area with a great toliet on Horseshoe mesa. Hall down a ton of water if you are spending the night on the mesa because the spring is hard to find on an unmarked steep route. Ask the rangers about a cave in the nearby vicinity.
