I have a 2005 Wingfoot book that I can let you have just tell me the address you want me to sent it to. There is one problem I am in Colorado right now and won’t be able to mail you the guide book until the 26 of November. I don’t know when you need it by. One more thing I thru hiked the AT this summer and the 2005 would be fine. If you want a Wingfoot 07 then The Outfitter at Harpers Ferry has them and they will be able to ship it to you. I am sorry to say the Wingfoot guide is better, don’t go with anything else. Hope this helps

I’d go with the most current Wingfoot you can too, but supplement it with the official AT guides and the ALDHA Companion. They have different info, most of it useful. The 2007 Wingfoot is best if you can get it, as it’s the most up-to-date info you’re going to get (to give you an example, there’s a new spring in PA up in Section 2, but only Wingfoot lists it so far.)
Given a spring start, you have time to do a good cut-and-paste job with multiple guides. I usually (as a section hiker) scan the relevant sections of each guide, cut the scans together into one mileage chart (with descriptors where I think they’re needed) and then print out the resulting pages as small as I can read. I also hit them with a little Tectron spray to make them water resistant. It gets you a light, well ordered guide with all the info you’re likely to need. The classic trick for thru-hikers is, of course, to mail yourself guidebook copies for each leg, which this technique fits in well with.

Cowboy, I have the 2007 Wingfood Guide. We can talk via e-mail. I am going to take the maps this time. I need them for planning anyway. Why not take them with me.

I am working on a new guidebook (along with AT Troll) that will be available in January. It will have a number of new features, including profile maps and the option of getting it in sections: www.AppalachianPages.com

Awol, I tried your link, but didn’t get anything. Is it not up yet or is the link not correct? Just curious…
