Hammock on JMT?

Can I use my hammock on the section of the JMT within Yosemite NP? Campsites below the tree line seem abundant from photos posted, but does anyone have first hand experience with this? Any NPS policy or ranger issues to be aware of?
Thanks,
John F.

Below treeline no problem, but there are losts of nice places to sleep up high on the passes and no trees.

The only rule in the national park, is you can not hurt the tree. This is open to interpretation by the rangers. Most think nothing of a rope on a tree but I did get a verbal warning once in Yosemite Park about a rope defacing the bark. I think the ranger was just having a bad day. In the national forest, no problems

You can do it…but you must be prepared at times to use only your tarp and sleep inside your hammock as a bivy while hugging the ground.

I strongly recommend you get 12 to 15’ nylon webbing to hang up your hammock with. The straps do not damage the bark or cut into the trees at all. Plus you need plenty of length due to the trees are so LARGE! Campmor has a few by Bliss or Byer that only weigh between 5 - 9 oz.
