ok I have a few questions:

1: do you use a sleeping bag in a hammock, and if yes, why do you need a bottom pad, wont the sleeping bag keep you warm

2: i weigh 250 lbs. if the hammock says its max weight is 250, should i get a different one??

3:I know this isnt about hammocks, but what ares some really kick ass meals that you can prepare in the backcountry??

cold air will travel under you all nite and you get cold. Yes, use a sleeping bag but remember that the insulation value goes away when the bag is compressed, as in you laying on it. A really kick ass meal in the back country is roast turkey with yams, french bread and some apple pie and icecream. Followed by a good cigar and some brandy. Or you could just opt for ramen

Ed Speer, designer of the Speer Hammock and the Speer Peapod and numerous other types of gear for hammocking has published a newsletter for those interested in Hammocking. The newsletter lists many manufacturers of Hammocks and gives pros and cons of various types. The top three hammock manufacturers in alphbetical order are Clark’s Jungle Hammock, Hennessy Hammock, and Speer Hammock. All have their own special features and can be seen at the various Hammocking weekends that Ed Speer organizes.
