Happy Father's Day!

I hope you had a great day!

What do you all think about hiking long distances with your children? I noticed a large number of parents and children… teens to older adult children… hiking together this year. There were so many that I think they outnumbered the married partners this year!

My father and my step father are both deceased and I wonder if they would have ever hiked??? Nah, not enough fishing for them! We camped for weeks every year and caught lots of catfish but walking wasn’t part of the deal.

Thank you miss janet for the Father’s Day message. I took our 4 children (1 son and 3 daughters) out camping and occassionally hiking every change that I could. My youngest daughter just graduated high school this spring. Some of my fondest memories as a father have come from our expereinces in camping out. Being from Atlanta we made it a goal to visit every Georgia State Park. We reached our goal a couple of years back. As our children got older and went off to college I usually went off hiking with the family dog. However, this Friday my son (25) and I are hiking from Hot Springs to Elk Park. One of my goals is to stop off in Erwin for a few hours. From reading all the different journals, it seems you haven’t hike the AT unless you stopped in at Miss Janet’s. Hopefully, we can stop in for a few minutes next week.
