HardCore - Appalachian Trail

HardCore built a new shelter north of 19E to fill in that 18 mile gap with out one. I believe it is between Apple House Shelter and Moreland Gap Shelter. It is a double decker with a covered cooking area. Trail Yeti and Camo re-routed a steam and created a nice waterfall. High enough for a hiker to walk under! It is called Mountaineer Falls and the shelter is called the Mountaineer Falls Shelter. Mule Skinner (GA-ME '05) is a great carpenter!

There were 120 hikers, former hikers and friends of the trail working Monday putting in 1,500 ft of new trail with switchbacks on Unaka Mt.

Baltimore Jack cooked up his famous spaghetti at Kincora. A big thanks to Bob Peoples for being the great friend he is to the trail and hikers.

And it was fun too! It’s worth mentioning that the shelter was not only erected, but packed in ~1.5 miles to the worksite by HardCore volunteers. Thanks again to everyone who helped make HardCore happen!

Also, if anybody happens to know who ended up with the orange Z-Rest pad that was left by the trailhead on Sunday, please let me know.

Skittles, I may be wrong but I believe it was still there on Monday evening when we came out. It was laying off to the right going down to where the lumber was piled. It was folded and sitting next to a small mound of dirt. I may be wrong, check with Bob Peoples, some of them went back in Tuesday.
