I have heard there is like a bus on the AT. It is supposedly abandoned. I am reading the book “Into the wild”. It is about a guy who dies in Alaska in an abandoned bus. This book just reminded me of someone saying something about an abandoned bus on the AT. It anyone knows anything, e-mail stuff. I would like some pictures if possible. E-mail me at jcdeane@chartertn.net . Thanks

Yeah, I saw the bus. It’s a '55 GMC. It has an engine I need for my '48 Chevy. It’s on a hill about fifteen miles north of Erwin, Tenn. I think something died in it. It sure stunk. Maybe it was Sweeper?

Yo fool! I pity the bushwhack who can’t spell his own name! James, I got a pic of it in my journal and some info:

If that link don’t work, the journal entry is March 15. Here’s the pic:

Again, if the link is not right, look in the photo index. Hope this is of some use. -Sweeper

Yeah, I saw that pic. You were sleepin’ while I was trying to pry the engine out with my Swiss Army knife. Kathy said aint no way you’re gonna carry that thing in your pack. Next year it’s mine if I can find the owner. I thought the whole bus would make a cool shelter if they fixd it up a little. Hmmm

There are other abandoned school buses on the trail.

I remember one between the South Fork of the Holston River and Trimpi Shelter…a neat area in southern Virginia.
