I saw Us441 had been closed between Cherokee and Gatlinburg due to fallen trees. Has it reopened or does anyone know when it will reopen. Thanks, Ryder

GATLINBURG — U.S. 441 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park reopened today after the removal of hundreds of trees that blocked the highway just into North Carolina.
The highway, also known as Newfound Gap Road, between Gatlinburg and Cherokee, N.C., was closed over the weekend because of heavy snow and ice. Workers found the treefall Monday as they were clearing the road
Clingmans Dome Road, however, remains closed because of ice, snow and fallen trees.
A park spokesman said Monday the fallen trees may have been the result of a microburst or straight line winds.
