Jeff and I both use a Petzl Zipka. Mine is the older model and has survived two thrus, Jeff’s is a Plus model.
I really that there is no head band constantly flapping around.

Let me suggest the Petzl Tikka 2 Plus. (or is it Plus 2? Whatever, you get the idea.) The new one will take lithium batteries as well as alkaline. It has a “low battery” indicator, and a “red” light for night vision.
Hey Chipper! The problem with the Zipka, IMHO, is that one has to be careful taking it off and on so as not to get your hair tangled in it. I keep my Tikka 2 around my neck when getting ready for evening so I don’t need to dig around in my pack for it after dark.
That being said, the older models are still fine, but shouldn’t be used with lithium batteries. :tongue

Regadless, go with what ever holds AAA’s. Those are easy to find most anywhere and are less expensive then other options.

thanks the beta. what about princteon tech? my luck with petzl has been less than perfect, for a good long while that is. what be the PT version of the tikka? mucho gracias.
